Department Overview

St. Joseph’s is an academic medical center providing excellent training for our residents in a high volume, high acuity, and urban environment. We treat a wide variety of patients with a very diverse mix of socioeconomic, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.

The Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency program was created in 2014 and became ACGME-accredited in 2017 with continued ten-year accreditation in 2019.

The program consists of four participating sites, whose focus includes aesthetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, dermatology, laser, oculoplasty, gender-affirming surgery, and burn.

It is a three-year Independent Plastic Surgery Residency and accepts one applicant each year through the San Francisco Match System.
