Resident Life

What is a short trip from St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, you ask? Well, that can be dinner and a play in New York City, relaxing on a beach, and skiing.  In addition to our on-site housing, residents frequently reside in trendy, upscale nearby communities including Hoboken and Montclair. The Garden State has a variety of terrific outdoor activities, museums, historical sights, shopping, and college & professional sports. New York City is just a short car, train or bus ride away. If you can imagine your post call days hiking the Hudson Highlands, rafting on the Delaware River, hitting the slopes at Mountain Creek or laying on a beach at the beautiful Jersey Shore, then St. Joseph’s might be the place for you!

Since residency is such a busy time, periodically we make sure to take a break from the action.  We have several annual events and the occasional spontaneous night out at a local eatery. Our residents gather often after hours to get to know their colleagues, but also to start new friendships!  Our annual departmental Holiday party is renowned through the hospital every year with a great DJ and good food!  And finally, our graduates spend one last night of fun and reminiscence at our annual graduation dinner.
