The Speech Language Pathology Department offers diagnostic and therapeutic services to inpatient and outpatient children and adolescents with a variety of speech and/or language disorders. As one of several clinical services in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department, our therapists take a multidisciplinary approach toward treatment for those children or adolescents who are also receiving physical and/or occupational therapies.
Evaluations and therapy are provided in English and Spanish (at our Paterson location) by our professional staff of speech-language pathologists, each of whom are licensed by the State of New Jersey and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Comprehensive evaluations and therapy are provided for children of all ages with articulation disorders, delayed speech and language development, fluency disorders, neurologically based speech and/or language impairment, cognitive-linguistic impairment due to traumatic brain injury, autistic spectrum disorder, vocal cord dysfunction, and voice disorders. Our speech-language pathologists maintain a close relationship with the neurodevelopmental pediatricians from our Child Development Center in order to provide the best possible treatment for our shared patients.
