Ambulatory Surgery at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center takes place in a friendly, family-focused environment, providing patients and families with an outpatient non-hospital feel, while also having access to all of St. Joseph’s Healthcare System’s resources.

The unit meets a patient's needs from the start of a procedure to the finish, as patients are admitted, receive their medical treatment and are discharged from the same unit. The staff, including Magnet award-winning nurses, provides care to patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly in all sub-specialties.

Patients receive pre-procedure phone calls to provide information and instructions regarding their procedure and how to access the department. Additionally, patients also receive a phone call from a RN to assess the patient's progress after their surgery and to assist with any issues or concerns that may have developed after discharge.

To help in alleviating anxiety and stress prior to surgery, we provide pediatric tours for our pediatric patients and their families. Parents and children meet the unit staff, including an anesthesiologist, so that they are familiar with what will occur on the day of the procedure.

The Same Day Centers at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital provide care to ambulatory surgical patients, some medical and cardiac procedure patients including cardiac catheterization. Certain same day medical bedside procedures are provided to patients who range from infant to geriatric.

The Same Day Centers offer a broad range of appropriate surgical specialty services such as ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Spine, Gynecology, Urology, Vascular, Podiatry, Plastic, Oral/Maxillofacial, Dental, Pediatric and Adult General Surgery, Breast Surgery and Pain Management processes. These services are provided at one or both hospital campus locations.

We are proud of our extremely positive patient satisfaction scores that consistently meet or exceed Press Ganey's benchmarks.
