This year's flu season has hit hard and fast, and is dominated by a particularly rough strain of the virus, federal health officials said Friday.

The elderly, the very young, those with chronic health conditions and baby boomers are suffering more than usual from the viral illness.

NorthJersey.com published an update on this year’s flu season, featuring David Goldberg, MD, Chief of Pediatric Infectious Disease, St. Joseph's Children’s Hospital.

"It's never too late to get the flu vaccine," said Dr. David Goldberg, "We're seeing an increasing number of children being admitted."
