Andora Family Gift Provides Integrative Therapy Program at SJCH

Andora Family Gift Provides Integrative Therapy Program at Childrens HospitalThe St. Joseph’s University Medical Center Foundation is proud to announce the naming of the Andora Integrative Therapies Program at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, Paterson, NJ, with a gift of $150,000 from The Andora Family.

“We are truly grateful to The Andora Family for their longstanding dedication to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center and their commitment to enhancing the spectrum of integrative therapy services that assist young patients at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital,” said Timothy P. Barr, Vice President for Development, St. Joseph’s Health, and Executive Director, St. Joseph’s University Medical Center Foundation.

The Andora Integrative Therapies Program provides a variety of integrative services to help children and their families cope with the pain and anxiety of their disease. While the services provided reach a range of patients throughout the Children’s Hospital, a particular focus of the program, as well as the Andora Fund, is to assist pediatric hematology/oncology patients throughout their therapy and into survivorship, as well as during palliative care.

“The Andora’s funding allows St. Joseph’s to provide these services at no cost to patients at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital,” added Mr. Barr.

The Andora Integrative Therapies Program for children and adolescents offers acupressure, acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and visualization therapies. The overall goals of the program are to help reduce the symptoms and complications of illnesses and side-effects of treatments, evaluate the safety and interactions of complementary therapies with conventional treatments, and teach parents and families how to use integrative therapies within their child’s individualized care plan.

A tribute to former president of the St. Joseph’s University Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees, Anthony “Tony” Andora (dec.), The Andora Integrative Therapies Program is contributed by his wife, Foundation Trustee Colleen Andora and their children.
