The St. Joseph’s University Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center Foundations are proud to announce the 2014 Charity Ball, a black tie event to be held on Saturday, November 15th at the Waldorf Astoria, New York City. Proceeds will benefit St. Joseph’s Health.
William A. McDonald, President and Chief Executive Officer, St. Joseph’s Health, will be honored as the recipient of two prestigious awards, the St. Joseph’s University Medical Center William F. Johnson Award for Community Service and the St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center Community Award.
Mr. McDonald is a dynamic executive whose career is punctuated with successes that, in the past ten years, have greatly impacted St. Joseph’s Health, as well as the residents and communities of New Jersey. Mr. McDonald lives the Mission, Vision and Values he promotes at St. Joseph’s. His actions and achievements, personally and professionally, underscore his unwavering commitment as an active healthcare advocate, from promoting a collaborative culture of caring and driving top quality outcomes at St. Joseph’s, to influencing fair charity care reimbursement rates, statewide.
A highly respected health care executive with more than three decades of expertise and experience, Mr. McDonald was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, the flagship of St. Joseph’s Health, in May 2004. He was named to his current position in 2006.
When Mr. McDonald came to St. Joseph’s, the healthcare system was experiencing financial distress, fragmented clinical service structure and lack of growth. After thorough evaluation, Mr. McDonald strategically established a variety of opportunities for growth and success, including a clinical service line enterprise system, energetic mentoring and team building processes, the expansion of the medical academic structure, and the implementation of the largest master facilities investment project in the history of St. Joseph’s Health.
A true visionary, Mr. McDonald has achieved extraordinary results at St. Joseph’s Health and throughout his career. With tremendous expertise and foresight, Mr. McDonald has led the strategic development and implementation of sound policies and practices that have resulted in a balanced and reinvigorated St. Joseph’s Health. This organizational rebirth and economic recovery is punctuated by the Healthcare System’s tremendous strength and vitality. While repositioning St. Joseph’s for future success, heightened viability and sustainability, Mr. McDonald also led the rebirth and revitalization of the South Paterson community surrounding the regional medical center.
