SJH is ISO 9001:208 Quality Certified

ISO 9001 2008 COLSt. Joseph’s Health has earned full certification to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System by DNV-GL Healthcare.

“ISO certification reflects our organization’s strong commitment and focused approach to healthcare quality, patient safety and overall service excellence, while it provides assurance that patients at St. Joseph’s Health receive the very best care,” said William A. McDonald, President and Chief Executive Officer at St. Joseph’s Health.

A long-accepted quality management system in many industries, ISO 9001:2008 is quickly gaining acceptance among healthcare organizations as a foundation for continued excellence in quality and patient safety services.

“As the only four-time Magnet® Recognized healthcare organization in the state to earn ISO certification, St. Joseph’s Health is proud to be at the forefront of this shift to quality management standardization in the healthcare industry,” said Mr. McDonald.

Created by the International Organization for  Standardization (ISO), ISO 9001 is recognized globally by industries, including hospitals and healthcare providers, as the benchmark for best practice standards. ISO 9001 helps standardize processes around practices that are proven to work, by the people doing the work, thus empowering frontline workers while creating an environment of predictability for the entire organization. The ultimate impact of ISO within hospitals is the reduction or elimination of variation, so that critical work processes are performed at a consistently high level.

DNV-GL Healthcare is the only accreditor of U.S. hospitals that integrates ISO 9001:2008 quality management system compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation. There are many types of ISO 9001:2008 certifications.

“St. Joseph’s Health has worked hard to achieve this certification, and they have done so with unwavering commitment from their top leadership to make their hospitals the best they can be,” says Patrick Horine, President of DNV-GL Healthcare. “ISO certification isn’t just an award or trophy for something you’ve done, it’s public evidence that you are at the top of your game with an obvious plan in place to make excellence an every day objective.”
