St. Joseph’s Health Appoints Eric T. Choi, MD, FACS Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery Division of Vascular Surgery

St. Joseph’s Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric T. Choi, MD, FACS, as the new Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery and as a member of the Division of Vascular Surgery.

Dr. Choi comes to St. Joseph’s from Temple University Hospital, where he served as Chief, Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Co-Surgical Director of the Temple Heart and Vascular Institute, and Professor of Surgery at Temple University.  Dr. Choi will provide leadership and oversight of surgical services and functions across the St. Joseph’s Health system, including St. Joseph’s University Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center.

“Dr. Choi is an accomplished surgeon, educator, researcher and leader who is excited about the opportunity to grow our surgery program,” said Mark Connolly, MD, Chairman of the Department of Surgery.  “Dr. Choi brings more than two decades of experience to St. Joseph’s working as not only a highly-skilled surgeon, but also a mentor for those entering the surgical field. We are also looking forward to using Dr. Choi’s experience and expertise in developing a multidisciplinary Limb Salvage Center of Excellence at St. Joseph’s to better serve our patients.”

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Choi will also treat patients, performing vascular surgery for aortic aneurysmal disease, carotid artery disease, peripheral artery disease and dialysis arteriovenous (AV) access.

Dr. Choi completed his residency in General Surgery and Fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He went on to practice vascular surgery at Barnes-Jewish and John Cochran VA prior to his work at Temple University Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, he also served as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine. Every year since 2012, Dr. Choi has been recognized as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly and Philadelphia magazine.
