 Dr. Pruden and Mayor TorresMayor Jose "Joey" Torres presented the Key to the City of Paterson to James N. Pruden, MD, at a celebration held recently at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.


With nearly 25 years of experience as a practicing Emergency Medicine physician in New Jersey, 20 of which have been spent at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC), Dr. Pruden has had an extremely positive impact on the quality of life in New Jersey.

Bill McDonald and James Pruden, MDIt was an exciting fall at St. Joseph's Healthcare System, where we took time to raise awareness of our programs, raise funds to support those programs, and honor two of our physicians who have worked to care for the residents of Northern New Jersey.

On October 18, 2008, James Pruden, MD was honored at the St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center Foundation’s Charity Ball. On November 22, 2008, David V. Rasa, M.D. R.PH., was honored at the St. Joseph’s Wayne Foundation’s Charity Ball.

Practicing family-centered care, the Pediatric Emergency Room at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by specialists who are dually-trained in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Our registered nurses and other staff members have specialized pediatric training and experience to recognize and treat conditions unique to children.

St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center/St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is proud to be a three time recipient of the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence, the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) gold standard for nursing excellence. St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center/St. Joseph's Children's Hospital received its first Magnet designation in 1999 and was one of only 15 facilities nationwide to successfully achieve Magnet status at that time. The second designation came in 2004. On August 20, 2008 St. Joseph's received a call from ANCC with the news that we had been granted Magnet re-designation for another 4 year period.
