St. Joseph's Children's Hospital Opens New Pediatric Subspecialties Center in Paramus

PATERSON, NJ [MAY 17, 2012] - St. Joseph's Children's Hospital (SJCH) at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, a member of St. Joseph's Healthcare System (SJHS), formally opened the SJCH Pediatric Subspecialties Center at Paramus, located at 30 West Century Road, Suite 215.

 

"St. Joseph's Healthcare System is pleased to be offering advanced specialized pediatric services to the Paramus and neighboring communities through this unique referral center, the only one of its kind in the area," commented Michael Lamacchia, MD, Chairman, Pediatrics, SJCH. "Recognized for our high standard of quality, responsive and compassionate pediatric care, we are proud to be extending our 'treat the whole child' philosophy to the Paramus community," he added.

 

The Center - from waiting room to exam rooms - was designed with children and parents in mind, in order to make all feel relaxed and comfortable. Pediatric Subspecialty services available at the Paramus Center include: Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Development, Endocrinology/Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology/Dialysis, Neurology, and Pulmonology.

 

Councilman Joseph Langana (right), welcomed the approximate 100 attendees, including (left to right) Ray Hough, Rotary District 7490, Gift of Life Committee Chair, and Michael Lamacchia, MD, Chairman, Pediatrics, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. Also in attendance were a variety of pediatricians whose practices refer patients to the specialists available at the St. Joseph's Children's Hospital Pediatric Subspecialties Center at Paramus.

NursingExcellenceAwardRecipientsPATERSON, NJ [May 15, 2012] – St. Joseph's Healthcare System (SJHS) recently celebrated the superior healthcare services provided by the team of nurses at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC)/St. Joseph's Children's Hospital (SJCH) in Paterson, St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital (SJWH), a division of SJRMC, in Wayne, and St. Vincent's Nursing Home (SVNH), in Cedar Grove. Maria Brennan, MSN, RN, CPHQ, Chief Nursing Officer, SJHS, and Vice President, Patient Care Services, SJRMC (third from right) presented the 2012 Nursing Excellence Award to 6 nurses selected by their peers. The 2012 St. Joseph's Healthcare System Nursing Excellence Award recipients are (left to right): Marissa James, RN, SJWH (resident of Belleville); Steven Gildea, RN, Perioperative Services, SJRMC (resident of Belleville); Robelisa Sistoso, RN, Critical Care Division, SJRMC (resident of Clifton); Jesusa Raiz, RN, SVNH (resident of Bloomfield); Essence Harris, RN, Maternal/Child Division, SJCH (resident of Paterson); and Maureen Nooney, RN, Medical/Surgical Division, SJRMC (resident of Wayne). The awards were presented at the Annual Nursing Excellence Awards Presentation held during Nurses Week.

St. Joseph's Welcomes Special Nurses Week Guest Speaker

CrossPATERSON, NJ [May 15, 2012] – The Nursing Team at St. Joseph's Healthcare System led by Maria Brennan, MSN, RN, CPHQ, Chief Nursing Officer, SJHS, and Vice President, Patient Care Services, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (left), welcomed Virginia R. Beeson, RN, BSN, MSN, NEA-BC, retired United States Navy Nurse Corps Captain and nurse executive, educator, and consultant, as the 2012 Nurses Week celebration special guest speaker.

Ms. Beeson served as Director of Navy Medicine's Leadership Development Program, Deputy Director of the Navy Nurse Corps, and Chief Nurse Executive at The National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, before retiring from the Navy in June 2003. Her presentation, "Nurses Caring for Nurses: Changing the Culture of Nursing" focused on building leadership capacity and changing/transforming organizational culture.

Ms. Beeson provided mirror presentations to the nursing staff at the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center - an American Nurses Credentialing Center recognized Magnet for Nursing Excellence organization since 1999 - in Paterson and to the nursing staff at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, a division of St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Wayne, NJ.
