Why St. Joseph’s University Medical Center?

Diversity

Graduate Medical Education at St. Joseph’s is dedicated to supporting an inclusive culture with faculty, residents, fellows, and staff who bring diverse life experiences and perspectives. We provide a safe, welcoming space characterized by respect, and value individual differences in race, ethnicity, gender/gender identity, age, religion, language, abilities/disabilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and veteran status. Our objective is to recruit, hire, and maintain the most qualified learners, selected on the basis of their preparedness, aptitude, academic credentials, clinical and communication skills, and ethical behavior. Our mission, vision and values set forth by our founders, the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, reflect this sentiment wholeheartedly.

Dignity- We believe that human life is sacred and every person will be treated with respect.

Charity- We embrace all who seek our help by bringing God’s love and compassionate care.

Justice- We advocate for the needs of all, especially the most vulnerable. We are committed in all our endeavors to be ethical, fair-minded and honest.

Excellence- We hold ourselves accountable to the highest possible standards of clinical and service quality.

Stewardship- We use our resources, both human and financial, in a responsible manner with a special commitment for the care of those who are poor, vulnerable and underserved.
