Program Overview

St. Joseph’s Family Medicine Residency Program in Clifton, New Jersey is a dynamic 4/4/4 residency program committed to providing exceptional care which sustains and improves both individual and community health. With a special emphasis on caring for those who are vulnerable and underserved, we have prepared family medicine physicians to provide excellent evidence-based patient care and lead healthcare in their communities.

The residency program was started in 2004 and offers trainees a unique educational environment with a vast spectrum of clinical cases from our diverse patient population. Our residents develop an immense knowledge base and gain clinical experience in multiple locations including our main primary care office, St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, DePaul Ambulatory clinic and numerous sub-specialty private practices with close (often 1:1) attending interaction.

Our 36-month curriculum is seamlessly integrated allowing our resident physicians to fulfill the ACGME and family medicine board requirements.

Residents are nurtured in a close-knit, small program where they have open access to faculty, allowing for a great blend of resident autonomy and supervision.

Residents have the advantage of working with a tight network of professionals in a large educational health system. We are a certified Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home.
