Intermediate Care and Neonatal Intensive Care

High-risk infants are cared for by Neonatal Associates of St. Joseph’s University Medical Center. These Board-certified physicians have a long history of caring for the tiniest of newborns.

St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care unit, celebrating it’s 41st anniversary in 2015, is one of the first in New Jersey. The staff is dedicated to providing quality personal care to each infant. Early involvement of the family in the care of the newborn is encouraged to support the bonding process during this period of separation.

A liberal visiting policy allows time for the mother and family to bond with their newest member. Each family will have the opportunity to ask questions of all team members during regularly scheduled sessions. When your baby is ready, he/she will be transferred to the Intermediate Nursery. In the Intermediate Nursery, extensive education on the special needs of your baby will take place.
