Liver, Pancreas and Biliary Care

Our Unique Approach Lead to Innovative Liver Care

Liver cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. In the United States, rates of liver cancer continue to rise as a result of epidemic levels of chronic viral hepatitis C and B. Additionally, epidemic levels of obesity will cause fatty liver disease and a condition called steatohepatitis. Between chronic viral hepatitis and steatohepatitis, an estimated 2.5 million people in the United States will develop cirrhosis and will be at risk for liver cancer.

St. Joseph’s Health is working to combat liver diseases and coordinate its resources within the newly formed Division of Liver, Pancreas and Biliary Surgery to offer comprehensive care to those suffering from liver disease, cirrhosis, and cancers of the liver. Advanced services are also available for patients in need of treatment for illnesses of the pancreas and bile ducts. By coordinating the expertise from within St. Joseph’s well-seasoned divisions of Gastroenterology, Interventional Radiology, Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine, the best patient outcomes will be achieved by prevention, early diagnosis, non-surgical and surgical care.
