Gastroenterology
The Pediatric Gastroenterology Division at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital provides evaluation and treatment of liver, biliary, gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders, from infancy to adolescence.
These disorders include the following:
- Crohn’s Disease
- Constipation and Encopresis
- Peptic Ulcer Disease
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Malabsorption/Digestive Disorder
- Gastro-Esophageal Reflux
- Liver Disease
- Short Bowel Syndrome
- Recurrent Abdominal Pain
Diagnostic procedures include upper endoscopies, colonoscopies, small bowel biopsies, breath hydrogen tests and rectal suction biopsies.
A Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive education of chronic diseases. Physicians and staff focus on the continuity of care from inpatient to outpatient that includes the families, the referring physicians and the school.
