Residency Program

The Division of Plastic Surgery is committed to the professional training of young individuals interested in a career in Plastic Surgery.

Our Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program was created in 2014 and became ACGME accredited in 2017 and received a 10-year ACGME accreditation in 2019.  We are an independent program and accept one applicant who has completed his training in General Surgery each year.

Throughout their time in residency, the residents are exposed to ample training in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our full-time faculty supplemented with our voluntary private plastic surgeons provide excellent guidance and training to encourage independence and scholarship. Our goal is to provide our residents with comprehensive training through a vigorous clinical volume and faculty-driven educational conferences. The residents are also encouraged to participate in our international trips with the Program Director. This allows an opportunity to learn how to adapt to different healthcare systems while operating in severely underserved areas of the world.

Lastly, we encourage research by our attending staff and the residents interested in a career in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In 2017, over 4000 reconstructive cases and 1500 cosmetic cases were performed.
