Neuro-Interventional Laboratory

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, a Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Center, represents the most advanced neurological treatment in our geographic area. This certification is nationally recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The Center operates 24-hours a day, seven days a week to care for patients who may require treatment for a wide variety of neurological and neurosurgical disorders.

In keeping with our vision to be recognized as the leading health care provider of choice in Northern New Jersey and for excellence in healthcare, St. Joseph’s University Medical Center opened its new Neuro-Interventional Suite.

The addition of this leading edge biplane angiography system gives our specially-trained Neuro-Interventionalists and thoroughly trained clinical staff the ability to treat an
array of endovascular issues, such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, emergency stroke, and carotid artery issues, while also having the ability to perform a variety of spinal procedures.

The Neuro-Interventional Laboratory Suite is a component of the Division of Cardiology, which has a proud record of providing exemplary advanced care to the community for more than 50 years.

Cardiology and Neurovascular services are often intertwined, in a way that some neurologic issues, such as stroke, can be related to cardiac issues from birth, or a rhythm that produces clots, ultimately resulting in a stroke. St. Joseph’s cardiologists and neuro-interventionalists are closely integrated for a whole spectrum of care, resulting in the best outcomes for our patients.

The Neuro-Interventional Laboratory Suite features an advanced Siemens Artis Q angiography system, which enables our clinician to review and stabilize images of tiny vessels and obstructions. Often, 3D applications are designed to image the smallest structures inside the head, crucial to identifying issues such as aneurysms.
