Psychiatric Emergency Services at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center are available around-the-clock to respond to any psychiatric emergency. Patients are evaluated in the emergency room (ER).
Patients or family members in distress, who present to the ER at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center or St. Mary’s Hospital, are evaluated and referred to appropriate services. Patients at St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital are evaluated by telepsychiatry.
Victims of domestic violence, who present to the ER due to injury, can obtain a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) while in the ER 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.
Crisis clinicians and an on-call psychiatrist are available 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.
