There is a national health crisis as far as blood clot formation in individuals. This formation can travel and cause other serious conditions such as sudden death. These risk factors assessed on patient admission include obesity, immobility, heart disease, congestive heart failure, pulmonary disease, stroke, pregnancy, post-partum as well as family history of deep vein thrombosis and clotting. All patients should be aware of the risk factors and discuss openly with their physician their specific condition.
