Back pain is one of the most common pains in the body. It is the second most common reason for physician office visits. There are certain conditions that occur that require more attention such as disc herniation caused by obesity, smoking, improper lifting, improper posture, sitting for prolonged periods of time. In mid 30s to early 40s is the common age group for this injury. A herniation means there is a tear or rupture in the outer part of the disc, pushing puts pressure on a nerve and instigates persistent back pain as well as numbness or tingling in the legs.
