Prostate Cancer - Health Tips

Presenting James M. Record, MD, JD, Associate Program Director, Internal Residency Program, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, to discuss risk factors and common test options for Prostate Cancer.
Prostate Cancer has a survival rate of almost 100% if caught early. Typically victims are over 50, those at higher risk are African American and/or have a family history. The Prostate Gland is one located between the bladder and the penis that secretes fluid for sperm. The Prostate Specific Antigen test is the most common test of Prostate health in men and is a simple blood test that checks for proteins produced by the gland. Alternatives to the test include PSA Velocity, PSA Density, Free PSA, Digital Rectal Examination, Combination of the PSA and DRE, and a transrectal ultrasound. Whether you are a high risk candidate or not you should consult with your physician regardless and consider screening.
