The Pediatric Gastroenterology Division of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital provides evaluation and treatment of patients from infancy to adolescence with liver, biliary, gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders.
These disorders include the following:
- Crohn's Disease
- Constipation and Encopresis
- Peptic Ulcer Disease
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Malabsorption/Digestive disorder
- Gastro-Esophageal Reflux
- Liver Disease
- Short Bowel Syndrome
- Recurrent abdominal pain
Diagnostic procedures include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, small bowel biopsy, liver biopsy, esophageal pH, manometric studies, breath hydrogen test, and rectal suction biopsy.
A gastroenterology nurse practitioner provides comprehensive education of chronic diseases. Physicians and staff focus on the continuity of care from inpatient to outpatient that includes families, referring physicians and school.
