The Speech-Language Pathology Department offers diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with a wide variety of speech and language disorders. Comprehensive evaluations and treatments are provided in English or Spanish by a professional staff of speech-language pathologists. All speech-language pathologists are licensed by the State of New Jersey and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Evaluations and therapy are provided for many communication disorders including articulation disorders, delayed speech and language development, autistic spectrum disorders, vocal cord dysfunction, and voice disorders.
Videostroboscopic examination of the structure and function of the larynx and vocal cords is performed by the speech-language pathologist in conjunction with the otolaryngologist. This state-of-the-art examination of the larynx is particularly important for children with persistent hoarseness.
All patients, after receiving a comprehensive evaluation, have an individualized treatment plan developed. This plan of care is reviewed with the parent prior to start of treatment.
