Encouraging a Love for Reading

asdMotivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and in creating lifelong successful leaders. In celebration of Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss’s Birthday), Sr. Francis Raftery, SC, Patient Relations Coordinator, St. Joseph’s Health enthusiastically shared ‘On Beyond Zebra’ by Dr. Seuss with a classroom of 3-year-olds at the Paterson Family Center (PFC) Preschool in Paterson’s historic district. This is just one of the many ways that St. Joseph’s Health propels its Mission to reaching out and giving back to the surrounding community.

About Paterson Family Center
The PFC provides 105 three- and four-year-old Paterson children with age-appropriate curriculum and qualified staff committed to their growth and education. Founded by New Jersey Community Development Center (NJCDC), PFC offers support to the entire family through after-school programming that supports working parents, as well as clinical staff to connect families to needed resources.
