Jill Menell, MD, Honored by Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey

Jill Menell MD Honored By SCANJThe Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey (SCANJ) recognized Jill Menell, MD, Chief, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, as a recipient of the Dr. Charles F. Whitten Award, in the Health Care Professional category. The award was presented at the Second Annual Statewide Sickle Cell Symposium, where Dr. Menell also shared her expertise by leading a workshop entitled, “Caring for Your Child Who Has Sickle Cell Disease.”

The Whitten award is named in honor of Dr. Whitten, a professor and pediatrician who founded the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA). This award program is an opportunity for SCANJ to honor organizations and individuals who have done outstanding work in sickle cell disease.

The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital provides state-of-the-art family-centered care for children with blood disorders and cancer. Dr. Menell is one of several Board-certified Pediatric Hematology and Oncology physicians on staff, who work together with a dedicated nursing staff skilled in administration of chemotherapy and other therapies.
