The Division of Internal Medicine has an attending staff of 81 Board-certified internists who deliver both primary and specialized care to patients in the Emergency Department, inpatient hospital setting, outpatient primary care setting and the hospitalized medical patient on surgical services.
We deliver patient-centered, effective, and efficient medical care while teaching the fundamentals of General Internal Medicine to the medical residents and students.
The Division of Gastroenterology provides expert consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic care to treat all forms of digestive diseases.

In fact, one-third of all outpatient visits has something to do with the gut. Armed with less invasive medicine and the experience needed to perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, the St. Joseph's Healthcare System (SJHS) gastroenterology (GI) team works to meet patients' expectations of getting back to life quicker with fewer complications.

At St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, we are committed to providing quality geriatric care to older adults. Our geriatric team consists of Board-certified geriatric physicians who are highly involved with geriatric research, a geriatric Advanced Practice Nurse, a wound care management Advanced Practice Nurse, case managers/social workers for when the time comes for sub acute or long term placement such as St.Vincent’s Nursing Home in Cedar Grove, and a staff nutritionist, who assesses each patient’s eating habits to manage nutrition according to a patient’s caloric needs.

The Respiratory/Pulmonary Department at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System is composed of a team of over 100 respiratory therapists, equipment technicians, Board-certified pulmonologists, and pulmonary fellows who provide therapeutic and diagnostic services in both our Paterson and Wayne facilities. The primary focus of the department is to deliver pulmonary therapeutics to patients who have a myriad of pulmonary diseases and disorders, ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. The pulmonary function labs also provide diagnostic services for pulmonary-related disorders.
