Neurology - Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Center

St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center earned The Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification for Primary Stroke Center receiving the Gold Seal of Approval™  and has been designated by the State of New Jersey, Department of Health and Senior Service as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.

 

The stroke program has also been recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's "Get With The Guidelines" Program and has received the Gold, Bronze and Silver Awards for quality stroke care.

 

This designation recognizes rapid response to stroke, by stroke experts with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic developments in the field. Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Centers adhere to State and National Standards for stroke care and patient outcomes. Our stroke team is prepared 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to rapidly assess and treat patients with stroke and stroke-like symptoms.

The Neurology Stroke Unit at St. Josephs Regional Medical Center has recently expanded to include 16 monitored beds and a Neurology Special Care Unit which provides closer observation of patients with neurological needs by our nurses who are specially trained in Neurology and Stroke care.


When it comes to diagnosing and treating stroke every second counts.

  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes

  • Sudden severe headaches with no known cause
