The Hand Center at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center provides care for conditions affecting the hand and wrists. Board-certified hand specialists treat patients from newborns with congenital anomalies to adults with debilitating disorders.
The anatomical design of the hand enables many activities and our hand surgeons are dedicated to preserving these functions of the hand. Two certified hand specialists are members of the full-time staff.
The Hand has a total of 27 bones:
- 8 bones in the wrist
- 5 bones in the palm (metacarpals)
- 2 bones in the thumb (phalanges)
- 3 bones in all the other fingers (phalanges)
- The phalanges are connected through muscles, tendons and nerve pathways

- Kienbock’s Disease

- Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Trigger Finger
- Injuries such as: thumb sprain, finger, wrist or hand fracture, deformities or amputation
