An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a routine test that is used to look at the electrical activity of the heart. The electrical activity is transcribed into a graph form called the EKG. Your doctor can use an electrocardiogram to look for patterns among these heartbeats and rhythms to diagnose various heart conditions.
