Food and Nutrition Services

KitchenFood and Nutrition Services at St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital are provided through a management agreement with Sodexo, USA and are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The department’s highest priority is to ensure that a safe and sanitary food service environment is maintained, according to standards of quality as established by federal, state and local agencies. Our goal is to provide nutritionally adequate, attractive, and satisfying meals to patients, associates, and visitors. Sodexo provides a retail operation for employees and visitors via the 3rd floor cafeteria and newly implemented food kiosk in the hospital’s main lobby. Special function catering is also available to facility employees/departments upon request.

In conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Team, the Clinical Nutrition Services aspect of the department involves timely nutrition assessment, re-assessment, and nutrition education/diet instruction by Registered Dietitians who are accredited by the American Dietetic Association.

As part of Sodexo’s Personal Choice Dining Program, Hosts/Hostesses interact with patients to obtain food preferences and menu selections consistent with the therapeutic diet (as ordered by the patient’s physician). Personal dietary requirements, such as Gluten Free, Vegetarian, or Kosher meals, can be provided. Daily menu selection can be viewed on Channel 24.
