Orthopaedic Oncology
Tumors involving bone, muscle, and soft tissue structures are rare. Each tumor has its own distinctive characteristics, which influence the course of treatment and patient outcome. Treatment is individualized by tumor classification, size, and location.

Musculoskeletal Tumors
  • Bone Tumors
  • Osteosarcoma
  • Ewing’s Sarcoma
  • Leiomyosarcoma
  • Rhabdomyosarcoma
  • Hemangioma
  • Neurofibroma

Diagnosis
To determine characteristics, location and extent of tumor and type of treatment necessary various tests may be performed. They include:
  • X-rays
  • Bone Scan
  • CT scan and/or MRI
  • Needle Biopsy

Tumor Management
A pathologist determines the type of tumor and if it is benign or cancerous. This is necessary to determine treatment. Tumor treatment may include any of the following:
  • Biopsy
  • Tumor Resection
  • Surgery
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation Therapy
  • Heat Ablation
  • Curettage and Packing
