SJRMC Nursing Team Shares Expertise and ExperiencePATERSON, NJ [August 4, 2010] - St. Joseph’s Healthcare System (SJHS) Nursing Team experts participated in a Video Teleconferencing (VTC) presentation to a group of nurses in Switzerland regarding the application of Relationship-based Care - the care delivery system currently being rolled out throughout the Healthcare System under the guidance of Created Healthcare Management (CHM). Andrea Cavicchioli, MSN, RN, WOCN, Professor Researcher at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, who is also working with CHM, wanted nurses and nursing students to learn more about RBC from an institution that had been successful in implementing the process. CHM immediately reached out to St. Joseph’s to lead the lecture, which highlighted clinical experiences at SJHS, due to the excellent outcomes that have been recorded. The conference was a success and a second lecture is being planned for Fall 2010.

 

Presenters and attendees included: Maria Brennan, MSN, RN, CPHQ, Chief Nursing Officer, SJHS, and Vice President, Patient Care Services, SJRMC; Mary Ann Hozak, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Magnet Program Manager, SJRMC; Rose Nagle-Girgenti, MA, RN, BC, Director, Center for Education and Development, SJHS; Jackie Whitaker, RN, BA, Nurse Manager, Regan 6S, SJRMC; Lugenia James, RN, Regan 6S, SJRMC; Humberta Diaz, RN, Regan 6S, SJRMC; and Ingrid Patella, RN, Regan 6S, SJRMC. Maria Christensen, MSN, RN, Administrative Director, Emergency/Trauma Services, SJHS, served as an Italian interpreter for both groups during the conference.
