PATERSON, NJ [September 11, 2012] – St. Joseph' s Healthcare System (SJHS) is proud to announce that Kathleen Dunn, MSN, RN, APN, C, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (resident of Kinnelon), was selected as the recipient of a New Jersey Healthcare Recruiters Association (NJAHR) sponsored scholarship. The scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, is for a Registered Nurse pursuing an Advanced Degree in Nursing. Kathleen (second from left), an employee of SJHS since July 2005, is enrolled in the Doctorate of Nurse Practitioners program at Fairleigh Dickinson University where her research focus is HIV/AIDS. Kathleen is committed to her profession and the community, and volunteers in various programs. She is a mentor to other nurses and has led various performance improvement projects.

PATERSON, NJ (AUGUST 22, 2012) – Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital (SJCH) received a special visit recently. A group of professional athletes, including former NFL players and members of the NJ Titans, Women's Spring Football League, stopped by the hospital to encourage and inspire patients and families who participate in the SJCH's outpatient clinic. The visit was coordinated by the non-profit Paterson based foundation, "4th and Inches". The foundation also runs an annual football camp with professional and college football players serving as coaches and mentors. Among the many players present was American football running back, and Paterson native, Marcel Shipp, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, pictured with Kelvin Medina (resident of Paterson). Professional speaker, author and TV personality, Yvonne J. Harvey-Williams, also accompanied the group of athletes.
PATERSON, NJ (AUGUST 8, 2012) – A recent visit to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital (SJCH) at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey by members of the NJ Jackals, a Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball league team, was a big hit. Players, including left to right, Isaac Pavlik, #7; Jake Hale, #33; and Stephen Fox, #21, all pitchers, visited pediatric patients at SJCH, delivered gifts, signed autographs and posed for photos along with team mascot 'Jack' the Jackal. Pediatric patient Jhosua Santana (resident of Paterson), had a great time with his new pals, giving the visit 2 thumbs up and a great big smile.
St. Joseph's Healthcare System in Paterson, NJ, announced that it will not enter into a for-profit hospital alliance agreement with Ascension Health Care Network, St. Louis, MO.
