PATERSON, NJ [SEPTEMBER 15, 2010] - St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey celebrated the opening of 'The Barclay', the new Behavioral Health Services group home located on Barclay Street. The Level A transitional residence is for those who are coping with mental illness and need assistance with reintegration into community living. Residents are referred from the state psychiatric institutions or Essex County Psychiatric Hospital as per a contract with the state of New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Mental Health Services. Average length of stay is 18 months in this level of care and residents are then graduated into less supervised apartments in the community as they work towards independent living. The new house has 12 single bedrooms, two living rooms, one sitting room, a huge dining area, laundry room, 4.5 baths and a counselor's office.
