Mark W. Connolly, MDPATERSON, NJ [November 29, 2010] – St. Joseph's Healthcare System (SJHS) has announced Mark W. Connolly, MD, as the Chairman of Surgical Services at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC). A world-renowned heart surgeon and highly respected physician-leader, Dr. Connolly will take the reins of St. Joseph's Surgical Department effective December, 2010.

SJRMC Staff Help Create Lasting Memory for PatientPATERSON, NJ [NOVEMBER 23, 2010] - Staff at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) came together in the spirit of excellence to help create a lifelong memory for one patient: his wedding day.


Jose Otero, an oncology patient at SJRMC, and his now wife Gladys Otero, stood before family and friends, including many nurses and other St. Joseph's staff members, to express their commitment towards one another. Passaic Mayor Dr. Alex D. Blanco conducted the wedding ceremony for the bride and groom, both residents of Passaic. SJRMC staff contributed to the celebration by providing decorations, the bride's bouquet, the wedding cake, invitations, and a special blessing provided by the Pastoral Care Department.

Dr. Chandran and Bill McDonald at SJRMC Charity Ball 2010PATERSON, NJ [NOVEMBER 16, 2010]- St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Foundation is honored to announce that Chandra B. Chandran, MD, a physician-leader, was recently presented with the prestigious Kendrick P. Lance, MD Distinguished Physician Award during the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Foundation's 34th Annual Charity Ball for his outstanding efforts on behalf of St. Joseph's.

For the past 5 years, Dr. Chandran has served as the Chief of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center – home to the largest hospital-based dialysis program in New Jersey, with more than 80 stations in 3 units. In his position, he is responsible for overseeing more than 500 dialysis patients, the Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic, and the Nephrology Fellowship program, as well as teaching internal medicine residents and medical students.

To better serve these patients, the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) Emergency Department (ED) has introduced Life-Sustaining Management and Alternative (LSMA) services, a unique program designed to provide comfort, control and choices for chronic and terminally ill patients and their loved ones when faced with difficult end-of-life decisions.
