Paterson, NJ [January 19, 2010]– St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Paterson, NJ, recently opened the region's first dedicated Geriatric Emergency Department (Geriatric ED). Treating patients' age 65 and older, the department is designed to meet the complex needs of older patients in a senior-friendly environment.

Innovators in emergency services, the Emergency Medicine Department at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center was also the first hospital in New Jersey to perform therapeutic cooling in the field, a procedure that St. Joseph's now extends into the hospital setting to save the heart muscles and protect the brains of heart attack patients.

Wayne, NJ [January 11, 2010]– University Imaging, the area's newest and most advanced diagnostic imaging center, has opened its doors on at 246 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, adjacent to the St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital.

A member of the St. Joseph's Healthcare System, University Imaging now offers North Jersey's latest diagnostic imaging equipment, including a 64-multi-slice, low-dose CT scanner, the latest MRI technology and digital radiography. The center is equipped to perform standard radiology services as well as coronary CT angiography, cardiac MRI, calcium scoring, screenings for carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm, total body, rapid CT screening, peripheral vascular Doppler and virtual colonoscopy.

Nurse Assisting PatientPaterson, NJ [January 1, 2010]– On January 1, 2010, St. Joseph's Healthcare System's nurses joined in a global caring initiative started by Dr. Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN called the Million Nurse Global Caring Field Project.


Nurses and nursing serve as an archetype of human caring in the world. Nurses are uniting during 2010 to celebrate the 2010 International Year of the Nurse with the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health and two proposed United Nations Resolutions –to radiate heart-centered Love and Caring through individual and collective global meditations to honor and support millions of nurses.

SJWHF_Annual_Charity_BallWayne, NJ (December 16, 2009)– The St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital (SJWH) Foundation's 2009 Charity Ball, held at The Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, New Jersey was a huge success. Nearly 350 guests attended the annual event, which featured a lavish extended cocktail hour and entertainment provided by Sax & Sounds.


One of the night's many highlights was the recognition of the 2009 Charity Ball Honoree, John Soldoveri (center)- a local businessman, philanthropist, and longtime supporter of the St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital Foundation.
