PATERSON, NJ [May 15, 2012] – The Nursing Team at St. Joseph's Healthcare System led by Maria Brennan, MSN, RN, CPHQ, Chief Nursing Officer, SJHS, and Vice President, Patient Care Services, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (left), welcomed Virginia R. Beeson, RN, BSN, MSN, NEA-BC, retired United States Navy Nurse Corps Captain and nurse executive, educator, and consultant, as the 2012 Nurses Week celebration special guest speaker.
Ms. Beeson served as Director of Navy Medicine's Leadership Development Program, Deputy Director of the Navy Nurse Corps, and Chief Nurse Executive at The National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, before retiring from the Navy in June 2003. Her presentation, "Nurses Caring for Nurses: Changing the Culture of Nursing" focused on building leadership capacity and changing/transforming organizational culture.
Ms. Beeson provided mirror presentations to the nursing staff at the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center - an American Nurses Credentialing Center recognized Magnet for Nursing Excellence organization since 1999 - in Paterson and to the nursing staff at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, a division of St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Wayne, NJ.
