PATERSON, NJ [NOVEMBER 16, 2010]- St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Foundation is honored to announce that Chandra B. Chandran, MD, a physician-leader, was recently presented with the prestigious Kendrick P. Lance, MD Distinguished Physician Award during the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Foundation's 34th Annual Charity Ball for his outstanding efforts on behalf of St. Joseph's.
For the past 5 years, Dr. Chandran has served as the Chief of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center – home to the largest hospital-based dialysis program in New Jersey, with more than 80 stations in 3 units. In his position, he is responsible for overseeing more than 500 dialysis patients, the Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic, and the Nephrology Fellowship program, as well as teaching internal medicine residents and medical students.
Prior to his role as Chief of Nephrology, Dr. Chandran has served countless patients and guided hundreds of students during his more than twenty-five year tenure at St. Joseph's. He also practices at the Wayne-based North Jersey Nephrology Associates.

Dr. Chandran is a member of various committees at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, including Pharmacy and Therapeutic, Clinical Resource Utilization and the Residency Review, and participates in a number of research activities and clinical trials at the Medical Center.
Dr. Chandran graduated from Madurai Medical College in India. He completed his Medical Residency at Misericordia Hospital in the Bronx, and completed his Nephrology Fellowship at University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey, and St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center. He has been actively involved in a Nephrology/CKD practice since completing his Fellowship.
