Wayne, NJ [January 11, 2010]– University Imaging, the area's newest and most advanced diagnostic imaging center, has opened its doors on at 246 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, adjacent to the St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital.
A member of the St. Joseph's Healthcare System, University Imaging now offers North Jersey's latest diagnostic imaging equipment, including a 64-multi-slice, low-dose CT scanner, the latest MRI technology and digital radiography. The center is equipped to perform standard radiology services as well as coronary CT angiography, cardiac MRI, calcium scoring, screenings for carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm, total body, rapid CT screening, peripheral vascular Doppler and virtual colonoscopy.
Women's services will also include digital mammography, breast MRI, ultrasound and DEXA bone densitometry. Full-field digital mammography offers greater ability to detect subtle breast tissue changes, enhancing the ability to detect breast cancer early.
"We are pleased to offer the highest-quality digital images using the safest, low-dose technology scanners available today," said Charles I. Whang, M.D., University Imaging's medical director. "The new technology allows us to perform diagnostic testing quicker than before and results are digitized, which allows a patient's doctor to securely access them from the hospital or any location."
While the center and its technology are all new, its medical and support staff have lived and worked in the community for several years. Headed by Dr. Whang, the medical team includes Jatin Gajarawala, MD, Michael L. Steinberg, MD, Michael O. Duhaney, MD, Steven Festa, MD, and Ralph B. Wheeler, MD, all physicians in the St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital Radiology Department. All of the doctors are board certified in Diagnostic Radiology.
Conveniently, University Imaging is located just across the parking lot from St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital, with ample parking close to the building.

"As a member of the St. Joseph's Healthcare System, we are pleased to have all the resources of St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital behind us," said Dr. Whang.
"In keeping with our mission to offer quality, compassionate healthcare to the residents of northern New Jersey, University Imaging provides doctors with superior imaging information to care for their patients quickly, efficiently and close to home," said William A.
