Dr. ParekhPaterson, NJ (September 10, 2009) – St. Joseph's Healthcare System is pleased to announce Jai G. Parekh, MD, MBA, as the Director of the newly branded, "Research Institute at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center". A board-certified ophthalmologist and corneal transplant surgeon with several years of experience and leadership at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (SJRMC), 'Dr. Jai' brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to his new post.

Dr. Parekh completed his undergraduate and medical school studies with honors at the Boston University School of Medicine followed by complete training in both Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology at Rhode Island Hospital (Brown University School of Medicine), The Lahey Clinic (Tufts University School of Medicine), and Boston University Medical Center; Dr. Jai served as Chief Resident in both specialties and was Co-Editor of a major atlas in Ophthalmology. He then completed his fellowship in Corneal Transplantation, External Diseases, and Refractive Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.


Since 2002, Dr. Parekh has served as a Partner at Brar-Parekh Eye Associates in New Jersey and has built and maintained a busy surgical practice in Ophthalmology at SJRMC. Dr. Parekh is an invited speaker at many local, national, and international meetings, is a Co-Founder and Board Member of the prestigious Society of Academic Medicine, and has also participated in many multi-center national drug trials in Ophthalmology.


Dr. Parekh now teams up with Lindsey Meade, Manager of Research at SJRMC, to help bring St. Joseph's Healthcare System to the forefront of research as it has in its clinical programs.


Currently, there are 268 active trials in 15 departments including cardiology, pediatrics, and orthopedics.
