PATERSON, NJ (MAY 18, 2009) - Louis Brian Santos, RN, Emergency Department, St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital (SJWH), second from left, is the recipient of the 2009 Achieving Clinical Excellence (A.C.E.) Nursing Award. The A.C.E. Nursing Award, the highest honor given to a nurse at SJWH during Nurses Week each year, is designed to promote excellence in nursing care by recognizing the clinical achievements and professional growth of the bedside nurse. Candidates for the award are nominated by their peers based on factors such as the nurse's dedication to quality patient care and willingness to serve as a mentor for colleagues or new staff members, among others.
According to his co-workers, "Louis is calm, reassuring, committed, and professional. He always goes above and beyond and leads by example."
