Francine Katz Named NJBIZ General Counsel of the Year Finalist

Francine Halushka Katz, Esq., is a talented hospital general counsel with extensive, well-rounded experience in health care law and hospital leadership. With nearly twenty years of success serving as general counsel of New Jersey non-profit health care systems and working for large law firms specializing in healthcare finance, Ms. Katz is adept at directing multiple priorities. As the general counsel for integrated multi-hospital St. Joseph's Healthcare System since June of 2010, she demonstrates excellence in her professional successes, strategic leadership, legal direction, and commitment to community service. Ms. Katz is a passionate advocate and fundraiser for the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR), a national voluntary health organization, and is honored to be a past ALR National Volunteer of the Year.

 

Ms. Katz graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with a juris doctor degree. She is also a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor of science degree in Public Relations. She is admitted to the bars of New Jersey and New York and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and New Jersey Bar Association. She resides in Montville Township, New Jersey with her husband and two boys who fill her free time with many sports activities and events.

 

The NJBIZ General Counsel of the Year finalists and winners were selected by an independent panel of judges using a scoring system based on: career successes, legal victories and achievements, professional services provided and community service. The General Counsel of the Year Awards finalists will be recognized and the winners in each category will be announced during a breakfast awards ceremony on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Palace in Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ.

WAYNE, NJ [March 14, 2013] - On Wednesday, April 10, 2013, the St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital Auxiliary will host its spring event with proceeds helping to raise funds for a major hospital capital renovation project. The announcement was made by Eleanor Irmiere, President, and Joann Karas, Co-Chairperson of the St. Joseph's Auxiliary following a tour of the hospital's newly renovated 5th floor at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital.

 

This year's event, "American Bandstand Wacky Bingo" will be a truly unique night of dinner, dancing and bingo. The event is being held at The Brownstone, 351 West Broadway, Paterson, and starts at 6:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to dress in costume and prizes will be awarded for the Best Dressed Individual and the Best Dressed Group. Jeff Joyner Named to Leadership Team at St. Joseph's Healthcare System

SJHS Announces.VP.Appointment JeffJoyner

PATERSON, NJ [March 7, 2013] – St. Joseph's Healthcare System (SJHS), Paterson, NJ, has announced the appointment of Jeff Joyner as Vice President of Operations.

 

"I am pleased to welcome Jeff Joyner to St. Joseph's Healthcare System. With a broad background in healthcare administration, government, and all sectors of the patient delivery continuum, Jeff is a strong addition to the System's leadership team," says William A. McDonald, President and Chief Executive Officer, SJHS.

 

Prior to coming to St. Joseph's, Mr. Joyner served as Vice President of Professional Services at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Previously, he held the position of Vice President of Patient Support Services at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.

 

A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Mr. Joyner has presented academic guest lectures in Healthcare Management at George Washington University and George Mason University. In addition, he has served for two, two-year terms as an elected member of the Maine State House of Representatives. Mr. Joyner holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Economics from the University of Maine and a Master of Health Administration from the University of New Hampshire.

AgeWISE Program at St. Joseph's Healthcare System Earns NJHA Award

NJHA logoThe New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) presented St. Joseph's Healthcare System with a 2013 HRET Community Service Award for its AgeWISE program. The award was presented at NJHA's 94th Annual Meeting held earlier this year in Princeton. Each year, the NJHA and its Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey (HRET) recognize organizations that identify community needs and implement programs to serve those needs.

 

"St. Joseph's is truly honored to receive a New Jersey Hospital Association Health Research and Educational Trust Community Service Award. Our AgeWISE program, this year's award recipient for improving end of life care, brings our inter-generational nurses together in a mutually supportive environment that allows us to provide improved geropalliative care for our geriatric patients at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center," said Maria Brennan, DNPc, RN, CPHQ, Chief Nursing Officer, SJHS, and Vice President, Patient Care Services, SJRMC. "Only three hospitals in the state received HRET Community Outreach Awards this year and St. Joseph's is proud to stand among them," she added.
