Mission

The Gastroenterology Fellowship Program is a multifaceted, multidisciplinary and comprehensive program providing training in all areas of gastroenterology.  The Program strives to provide exceptionally rich clinical and didactic training and to provide a wide array of clinical and basic science research opportunities.  The core purpose of the gastroenterology fellowship program at SJUMC is to prepare fellows for the independent practice of gastroenterology and hepatology in the setting of private/hospital based practice and/or academia. The program serves a very ethnically and socio-economically diverse patient population drawing from inner city as well as suburban communities. Our mission is to teach our fellows how to provide high-quality and safe care with dedication and compassion to all humans, irrespective of race, gender, religion, social or economic status. Our mission is in direct line with the larger mission of the Sisters of Charity of St Elizabeth, sponsors of SJUMC.
