Times have changed for high school students. Many schools are now trying to better prepare students to live and work in their community.
Many high schools are adjusting schedules to allow students to spend time gaining experiences in the "real world" at a business, office, or hospital. This opportunity allows students to learn more about a career in which they are interested in pursuing.
The High School Mentoring Program at St. Joseph's Healthcare System is dedicated to juniors and seniors who are thinking about entering the medical field.
We help students have a better understanding of the opportunities available in a hospital by rotating them throughout our many different units. We also give students the opportunity for "hands on" experiences by teaching them numerous things, including how to take Vital Signs, Blood pressures, Temperatures, and how to transport patients. High school students who participate in the mentoring program are given the opportunity for many different educational experiences in the medical field.
